Biography

Vivian Barclay

With over three decades of experience in the music industry, Vivian Barclay is a
seasoned music publishing executive. In her former role as Managing Director of
Warner Chappell Music Canada, she oversaw the company’s esteemed global catalog,
representing some of the most prolific creators in the world. During her tenure, she
played a key role in signing talented writers and artists from around the world, including
Patoranking, Raghav, Machel Montano, Birthday Cake Records’ Begonia, and producers
Aliby (Drake, Party Next Door) and the catalog of the legendary Garnett Silk.
Beginning her career with a background in Radio and Audio production, Vivian embarked
on stints on the airwaves as the host of her own radio show and later as a Program
Director. She then transitioned to work with Jones & Jones Productions, specializing in
event and artist management services, before ultimately finding her niche in music
supervision and publishing. Additionally, Vivian earned producer credits for her
contributions to numerous conferences and festivals, further solidifying her reputation
as a versatile and accomplished professional.

Vivian has served on the EGC on the SOCAN board, as well as the licensing and deals
committees at SOCAN and CMRRA previously. Beyond her professional endeavours,
Vivian is deeply committed to giving back. She is the co-founder and president of
ADVANCE, Canada’s Black Music Business Collective, She also serves as mentor to the
Music Publishers Canada, “Women in the studio” program and sits on the board of
Phemphat Entertainment Group, which produces the all-female Honey Jam Showcase,
providing vital mentoring opportunities for female artists.
Vivian’s significant contributions to the music scene led to her recognition as a Billboard
Women in Music executive in 2022 and as one of Billboard’s International Power Players
in 2023.

In 2025, she launched her new venture, the boutique music publishing company Hot
House Songs, dedicated to finding and supporting incredible songwriters, with a special
focus on amplifying voices from Canada and the Caribbean.
