Biography
Shawn Barron is a seasoned music executive and A&R leader with a proven track record of developing platinum and Grammy-winning talent. After more than a decade at Atlantic Records, where he signed and developed artists including Ty Dolla $ign, Kap G, and Diggy Simmons, Shawn went on to serve as SVP of A&R at Motown Records. While at Motown, he signed Leon Thomas and EZMNY Records, and oversaw key projects including Puff Daddy’s The Love Album and Offset’s Set It Off.
Currently, Shawn is a partner in EZMNY Records alongside Ty Dolla $ign, where he continues to guide the career of Leon Thomas. Thomas’ critically acclaimed albums Electric Dusk and Mutt have generated hundreds of millions of streams, with the single “Mutt” surpassing half a billion streams, achieving multi-platinum status, and peaking at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. In February 2026, Leon Thomas won two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Album and Best Traditional R&B Performance, further solidifying Shawn’s reputation as a results-driven executive with a sharp ear for culture-shifting talent.
