Biography

Blending non-verbal spells while using West African spirituals as hooks – Nigerian-born, Canadian-based composer, Asuquomo, maintains an unmistakable sound and unique dexterity for storytelling through a Pan-African narrative as an Afro-Fusion artist.

Exclaim! Canada’s ‘Top 25 EP’s of the Year’ described Asuquomo’s sound “spanning Afrofusion, soul, pop and rock underscore his impactful pen”.

His high-energy performances have landed him opening slots for international giants like Ckay, Omah Lay and Pretty Boy D-O. He was awarded the 2020 Emerging Artist Award by Ottawa Arts Council x RBC and signed to the international publishing house Secretly Publishing that same year.

While making Pitchfork Magazine’s ‘Great Records You May Have Missed’ for his extended-play project ‘DIOBU’, Asuquomo anticipates the release of his first full-length album in 2024.

Asuquomo’s music video for “don’t be scared’ is a 5 time laurels award recipient and film festivals around the world and he is set to release a short-film in 2024, starring himself and also with an executive producer role.
