Amaka. is a Nigerian-born alt-RnB artist hailing from Toronto’s East end. With her genre exploring style and nostalgia laced lyrics, amaka. sets out to create beautiful, unhurried moments with listeners. Her music invites listeners to have difficult conversations with themselves about love and life while it holds their hands through those introspective moments.

Extended Bio:
In the summer of 2018, Amaka quietly released her first EP, Vacant, which was essentially an analysis of the meanings behind emotion. It was the perfect introduction to the mind and soul of this genre bending vocalist.

amaka. began 2020 making NOW Magazine’s list of “One’s to Watch”. Following which her song ‘Ceilings’ from the aforementioned visual EP won her the 2020 SOCAN Young Songwriter’s Award and landed a placement in a short film aired at Cannes Film Festival. amaka. closed out 2020 with a feature from Bandcamp as some of ‘The Best Soul of 2020’.

2021-2022 saw the artist release a few singles as she continued to work on her latest project as well as finish up nursing school. In spring 2022, amaka. had the opportunity to open for local legend LOONY at The Danforth Music Hall, and in the fall, she accompanied artist Charlie burg on some of his North American tour dates.

2023 saw amaka. release the first few singles from the coming project and perform for the first time in NYC with Breaking Sound.
