Major Seven (US)

Biography

Major Seven is a Grammy Award winning, multi platinum record producer, songwriter, musician, and visionary based in Atlanta, Georgia. Of Jamaican descent, his music profoundly reflects his heritage, blending deep musicality with cultural authenticity. His extraordinary journey began under the mentorship of R&B legend Keith Sweat and reached a pivotal moment when he produced “The Devil Is a Lie” featuring Jay Z, the lead single from Rick Ross’s Mastermind. His moniker, Major Seven, draws from both the Major 7th chord in music theory and his mother’s story of perseverance through six miscarriages, a legacy of resilience that anchors his belief in quality over quantity.

In 2019, his collaboration with DJ Khaled on “Holy Mountain” featuring Buju Banton, Sizzla, and Mavado reawakened a creative calling to bridge hip hop with his reggae roots. That cultural spark evolved into a broader mission to create globally resonant music and impact the world beyond the studio.

To date, Major Seven has worked with a powerful spectrum of artists including Rick Ross, Jay Z, Future, Rihanna, DJ Khaled, Burna Boy, GloRilla, JID, Snoop Dogg, Kirk Franklin, Shenseea, Keznamdi, Rapsody, and DJ Snake, accumulating multiple RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications.

In 2025, he earned four Grammy nominations across Rap, Global Music, and Reggae categories and secured a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for his production work on Keznamdi’s album Blxxd & Fyah, a milestone that solidified his role in bridging hip hop, reggae, and global sound at the highest level of music recognition.

As Co Founder and Director of Partnerships at WAVS, Major Seven plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of music technology. WAVS is a curated sample marketplace where elite composers release royalty generating compositions directly to professional producers. Unlike traditional sample platforms, WAVS enables creators to retain ownership and earn publishing and master royalties when their sounds are used in commercially released records, creating a more transparent and sustainable model for the music ecosystem.

In parallel with his creative career, Major Seven has expanded his impact as a humanitarian. He is the Co Founder of Major Change Initiative, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering underserved youth globally through music, education, cultural programming, and emergency relief efforts. In 2025, he helped lead an international campaign in partnership with the Bob and Rita Marley Foundation, GoFundMe, and 21 Savage’s Leading By Example Foundation that raised over $300,000 for hurricane recovery efforts in Jamaica.

Guided by the principles of quality over quantity and building over chasing, Major Seven continues to shape culture through meticulous craftsmanship, visionary strategy, and intentional impact. Guided by the principles of “Quality over Quantity” and “Building over Chasing,” Major Seven continues to shape culture through meticulous craftsmanship, visionary strategy, and intentional impact. His mother’s favorite quote remains a guiding force:

“Heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward through the night.”
