Biography
Jesse Joey James is a programmer, artist, socio-cultural entrepreneur, and music expert with a strong focus on hip-hop, talent development, and community building. As the initiator of BRICKS Hip Hop and director of Poppodium Phoenix, he operates at the intersection of culture, education, and social impact.
Through BRICKS Hip Hop, Jesse has been building a platform since 2017 that provides local urban talent with opportunities to perform while simultaneously strengthening the hip-hop network in and around Breda. What began as a grassroots initiative featuring events, studio sessions, and online content has evolved into a structured program within Poppodium Phoenix, where he is responsible for a significant portion of the programming and talent development.
Drawing from his experience as an active artist, Jesse brings a direct and up-to-date perspective to his work as a programmer. He understands what is happening within the scene and translates this knowledge into relevant programming that brings together emerging talent, established artists, and audiences.
As a programmer and project manager, he combines a strong conceptual vision with hands-on experience. He develops programs that not only provide a stage but also contribute to the sustainable growth of creators and the scene as a whole. His strength lies in connecting artists, partners, and initiatives, with a focus on authenticity and progression.
With a background in Sound Engineering (Audiovisual Academy, Hilversum) and Film (AKV St. Joost, Breda), Jesse brings a broad creative perspective. This is reflected in conceptually strong programming and a sharp sense of artistic quality and audience experience.
Driven by the belief that culture should create opportunities for the next generation, Jesse remains actively involved as a coach and mentor for young talent. At the same time, he continues to develop as a strategic driver within the hip-hop sector, building bridges between creators, organizations, and new initiatives.
