Curtis Millen (IRL)

Biography

Having left a high level construction management job in search of a more fulfilling life, Curtis Millen decided to venture full time into the wilderness of music and the Irish soul-singing MC has gained a reputation as a conductor of energy. Curtis is best known for his blend of soul music, rapping and spoken word performances channelled through his soulful voice and honest, reflective lyrics from the journey of a would-be preacher who lost his way. His earliest memories of music flash back to afternoons well spent in his grandmothers’ kitchens singing along to the sounds of Billy Ocean and Michael Jackson or shuffling through his father’s CD collection blasting the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kasabian and Public Enemy. Taking performance inspiration from the likes of Tom Jones, Charlie Wilson, Prince and local Rotterdam artists like Kay Slice and Ruwhel Emers, Curtis has learned from them the ability to switch between a multitude of genres and will never shy away from improvising: a characteristic that allows him to fit into any musical setting.
