Woot Johnson (US) // Songtrust
Woot Johnson began his journey in the music industry in 2008 during his freshman year of college. He formed a rap group called RPG that went on to curate and perform local and state-wide popular records throughout the North Carolina region. The group had many successes, opening for Waka Flocka, Travis Porter, and Gucci Mane. After three years the group split to focus on their own personal endeavors, with Woot graduating with a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Johnson C. Smith University in 2012. Shortly after graduation, he began a career in corporate america where he discovered a passion for business. He went on to meet Keyz ½ of Ayo N Keyz, the now Grammy Award winning duo. In partnership with their label the Upperclassman Music Group, Woot has and continues to manage both up and coming and established producers, singers, songwriters and more facilitating the A&R and business processes for the label. Those in his catalog have gone on to have placements for major artists such as Chris Brown, Teyana Taylor, Lil Baby, T.I, Ty Dolla Sign, PnB Rock, Eric Bellinger and Trey Songz to name a few. In 2019, the label went on to win its First Grammy for “Album of The Year” with the production of “Bickenhead” on Cardi B’s “Invasion of Privacy” album. He has since added to his expanding career in music by serving as an A&R with Songtrust Music Publishing and creating his own management firm “WootxcLusive Management, LLC”. Woot hopes to continue to educate generations to come on the intricate details of both the creative and business aspects of music.
