Sydney Imani (NL)

Biography

If the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz were a modern-day millennial, this is the music that would resonate loudly in the vacant echo-chamber where he wishes his heart would be. Sydney Imani is an American born singer-songwriter based in Amsterdam whose musical style can be described as neo-soul/R&B. With strong influences from artists such as D’Angelo, Erykah Badu and H.E.R, Sydney’s music reflects her varied attempts to make sense of the complicated spectrum of human experiences, ranging from love and lust to death and dying. She and the members of her band (Elena Pisano on piano/synth, Ronny deCarlo on guitar, Marco Coelho on electric bass, and Niels Luteijn on drums) met while studying at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and are currently working on several musical projects together. In addition to gigging throughout the Netherlands, they recently competed in the 2022 edition of the Amsterdam Popprijs.
