Biography
Toronto based artist/songwriter Benita is an impeccable vocalist, combining textures of R&B and Pop in her sound. Hailing from the Jane and Finch neighbourhood, Benita started her musical journey performing in musicals and school coffee houses in highschool to then singing backup for local artists in Toronto including Daniel Caesar. She then found her way diving into releasing her own original music in 2019 to now accumulating over 1M streams/plays across all platforms.
Benita’s deput EP “SCARLET” was released in March of 2022 and has accumulated over a million streams on all platforms. She recently held her first show at the SoHo House in Toronto and had it packed with a full house. Her proudest moment to date was performing on the Budweiser Stage on August 12th for the annual Manifesto Festival and was invited to do an eTalk interview on her experience. Benita recently opened for Juno Winner Savannah RĂ© at her debut headlining show at the Phoenix Concert Theatre. Benita was also a main co-writer on Juno Winner Jon Vinyl’s “Palisades” EP. Her next move is set to participate in an Amazon special with Honey Jam and Canadian songstress Melanie Fiona. She will soon be gifting her listeners a two pack sounding like nothing she has put out before, titled “The Other Side Through The Hills” out in February 2023..
