Roots and Routes will be hosting a showcase during New Skool Rules. This European wide organisation, will feature some of their amazing talents at New Skool Rules. This is the 3rd edition New Skool Rules and Roots & Routes have collaborated.
Chris Henderson, who has worked with the likes of Jamie Foxx, Mýa, R. Kelly, Jene, Trey Songz, will do a panel discussing the ins and outs of the Music Industry as well as feedback on the delegate’s music. Right after the panel, people can show Chris live what they’re made of during a jamsession with a live band. If you enlist beforehand through www.ee2.nl/industry-night (site is in Dutch) you will be able to get in for free. New Skool Rules will also be scouting for amazing acts to win one of the last showcase spots.
New Skool Rules thinks it’s extremely important to present the next generation with the opportunity to meet, network and hopefully do business with important Music Execs across the world during New Skool Rules. That’s why we collaborate with several music schools in the Netherlands and outside of the Netherlands. Some examples are Rockacademie Tilburg, Haarlems Conservatorium, Albeda Muziek, In Holland Rotterdam, SAE (US) and Abbey Road Institute France. Leading up to the conference, New Skool Rules has provided masterclasses at most of these schools or has organised auditions there.
Between Feb. 16th – Feb. 21st New Skool Rules will do another tour, visiting most of these schools with Grammy award winning Producer/Writer Chris Henderson. Chris will teach masterclasses about the music industry, production, songwriting and will feedback on the student’s music. The students of these schools also get a discount on the conference/festival ticket. We believe in investing in the future. New Skool Rules and FunX are partnering up for the FunX show FunX Talent, which pushes urban talent to showcase their talent in a competition style radio show. The artist that wins, normally gets support by the radiostation through radioplay and interviews. This edition New Skool Rules joined forces with FunX. The next FunX Talent gets a chance to perform live at New Skool Rules in front of our Movers & Shakers. The FunX contestants of this series will get an exclusive masterclass by one of our grammy award winning producers.
During the last 3 editions of New Skool Rules, we were fortunate to collaborate with C.I.M.A. (Canadian Independent Music Association). This collaboration will get even bigger during this edition because besides the regular HipHop Showcase C.I.M.A. will also be hosting a R&B showcase. These showcases are for Canadian artists only. If you are Canadian and would like to perform during any of these showcases, you can apply here. Canada in general is supporting artists that want to come out to New Skool Rules fully. Canadian artist can apply for travel grants with Factor, Socan foundation and Nova Scotia Music.
P.R.S. (UK) also added New Skool Rules to their list of showcase festivals, for which U.K. Artists can get a travelgrant. The Export Buro for Estonia supported an act last edition to come over and showcase and will be doing the same this year. The Swiss Export buro added us to a list of conference to go to. We’re happy to see that all these Export Buro’s //Funding organisations are supporting New Skool Rules 2017.
HiphopShow BlackOutRadio has been a supporter of New Skool Rules for years, so we’re happy to announce our partnership will continue for New Skool Rules 2017. The guys behind the radioshow also organize the largest outside Urban Festival in Eastern Europe. They will not only be conducting interviews at New Skool Rules for the Radio show, but will also be looking at potential acts to book for Fresh Island Festival 2017 (July 11-13th). Acts they have booked because of their performances at New Skool Rules in the past are Art of Fresh, Ill Vibe and Lloyd de Meza and D.O.
The Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) will be returning to New Skool Rules for a Canadian Blast showcase and business mission to Rotterdam in May 2017.
Presented by Music Export Canada, CIMA will be hosting two(2) Canadian Blast showcases on Friday, May 19 and Sunday, May 21 focusing on Hip-Hop and R&B. This is an excellent opportunity for 8-12 Canadian acts to showcase to festival delegates and attendees.

New Skool Rules celebrates this fifth edition after a succesfull 4th edition in 2015, where over a 1000 people attended the music conference part of New Skool Rules and more than 4000 visitors enjoyed the New Skool Rules Festival.
